Principal's Message

Happy holidays!

Just a short and sweet newsletter for this week.

It has been another busy term here at KPS with many amazing learning opportunities and experiences. I hope that this was reflected in your child’s Student Led Conference on Tuesday night. I am so proud of all our students and their commitment to living our IB Learner Profile attributes.

My sincere thanks to my wonderful staff for their enthusiasm and dedication over the semester. It has been such a privilege to witness your professionalism and care.

Have a wonderful holiday break all – see you for Semester 2

Teaching Excellence Program 2025 - Term 2 Update

We would like to show our continued support for Emma Wasson 6EW participation in the Teaching Excellence Program by providing the school community with an update on her learnings.

Emma has attended 2 discipline days and 2 Teaching Excellence Learning Community days over the course of this semester. Emma has enhanced her knowledge and skills in her chosen discipline. She has learned collaboratively alongside colleagues from across the state and have brought back new understandings of contemporary teaching approaches and strategies to our school.

We look forward to her continued success in Term 3!

We are proud to have Emma represent our school and support the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in raising the status of this amazing profession!

School Council President

This is just a quick note to introduce myself as your School Council President for 2025.

I’m a TV writer, occasional teacher and the father of two boys, with my younger son Bellamy presently having the time of his life with Stuart in 3/4S.  It’s been an honour and a privilege to have taken up the role this year, at a time of such growth and renewal for our school and its community. I can happily report that Council meetings thus far have been productive and thorough, with a diversity of views represented and a shared passion for ensuring the best for our kids.

Alongside the many more concrete initiatives and developments you can see going on around the campus, there is an ongoing project by Emma and her team to make KPS an exemplar of safety and inclusion.  I hope to use my role to highlight and support the work being done in this area, as well as recognise the phenomenal efforts of FOKPS and the school community spirit it fosters.

We have a very special school here, and I feel lucky to be a part of it.

That said, I know that Emma has a firm commitment to making sure that we all feel heard and can have any worries addressed, and it’s one I share. As well as the usual lines of communication with your child’s teacher, the principal, and our very handy WhatsApp groups (thanks Mish!), I invite you to email me directly if you feel there’s anything else that Council should know or that I can help you with.

I’ll have more to say in Term 3, but in the meantime have a safe and restorative winter break and I look forward to seeing you all back for the second half of the year.
