What a spectacular night our STEAM event was! The effort that was put into the Young Dargie competition and Science Fair was outstanding. Congratulations to everyone that entered. I would also like to thank Finnia for her organisation of the fair and to FOKPS for their help. Very much appreciated!
I need to give the dance performances their own shout out! Blown away is an understatement. What Jari was able to teach in 4 sessions is a testament to how engaging he is as a teacher. Thank you Jari and all at Dance Curriculum.
2026 Class Placements
We are in the very early stages of imagining what 2026 will look like for all our learners. In the next few weeks, you will receive the opportunity to assist your child to provide feedback on friendship preferences for their 2026 class. Please look for that in an email from your child’s teacher.
I would like to invite anyone that has a specific request for their child to please email me. Please be aware that I cannot accommodate specific teacher requests, however if there is a learning need or a confidential situation that I need to be aware of I would love to know. It would be great if I could receive these by Monday October 20 so that we can begin making appropriate class groupings.
My email is emma.vasilevski@education.vic.gov.au
Alternatively, I am happy to meet and talk through your child’s needs in person. Just phone the office and book in a time.
School Policies
We welcome feedback for the following Policy -
Digital Learning Policy
Student agency and voice refer to the level of autonomy that a student experiences in the learning environment. Agency gives students the power to direct and take responsibility for their own learning, creating independent learners. Student voice is about students having a say and giving their perspective with regard to important decisions that impact their learning and the environment they are a part of.
Classroom and specialist teachers, support staff and leadership have a voice in constructing the best learning environments for children via the ‘Class Creator’ program. In 2025, we will once again provide the opportunity for your child to have voice into their classroom environment and learning for 2026. Students will have the opportunity to provide to their teacher their perspective as to the students they believe will enhance their learning and, social and emotional development.
In being involved in this process of having a say into the ‘Student Preference’ data set of ‘Class Creator”, it is vital to understand that the recommendations you and your child may make should be considered through the same lens that the school uses that is, creating diverse learning communities with a balance of skills, knowledge, learning styles and relationships.
At Kingsville, each student has the opportunity to preference five friends/peers from their year level. Any of the five opportunities not taken up by your child will be filled in by your child’s classroom teacher. These spaces are filled in through a conversation with your child, and from the teacher’s perspective of peers that would enhance a child’s learning and, social and emotional development.
The 5 students placed in the ‘Student Preference’ section of ‘Class Creator’ is filled, in the attempt to place students with one or more of the preferences where possible.
Your child’s classroom teacher will send you a link to an Office 365 Form to complete the survey. The link will come via Compass on Thursday16th October.
As each preference/recommendation is chosen, please reflect on why this student should be considered a peer in the new class group.
Any information/names that your child or you provide will be considered alongside other ‘Student Preference’ recommendations from teacher/staff. An informed and considered approach, taking into account parent/student and teacher/staff recommendations into the ‘field’ of student preference/relationships, are made when completing this data field.
To participate please completed the Office365 Form by Friday 24th October.
Please note: Not all preferences/ recommendations by your child/you or the teachers will be met once the program ‘runs’, as this field is just one of many fields that are ‘crunched’ in allocating a child to a cohort.
The misconception that regularly occurs is that having preferenced / recommended their best friend(s) they will automatically get that/these preferences. There is significant other data attached to each child that influences and impacts a child’s allocation to a cohort as the program builds a community of learner with a range of skills, characteristics and attributes.
The reality is that friendships can change from year to year and we encourage students to develop new friends; a life skill which helps build resilience. Friendships across classes and year levels is supported and encouraged at Kingsville through both the curriculum and at play times.

On Wednesday 3rd December, Kingsville Primary School will proudly host the inaugural Kingsville Cup eSports Tournament. This exciting event will see six schools come together, with over 150 student participants competing in a Minecraft Education Capture the Flag competition.
The tournament is designed to highlight the educational value of eSports, with students building collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity as they work in teams to solve complex challenges. Beyond the competition, the Kingsville Cup is a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the positive role technology can play in learning.
We are thrilled to be leading this initiative and look forward to sharing updates and highlights from what promises to be a landmark event in our school’s STEM journey.

Council is calling the young and the young at heart to join a series of fun and free activities to celebrate Children’s week running from 18 to 26 October.
This year’s Children’s Week program encourages movement, creativity, and connection – bringing families together through a variety of inclusive and engaging events
The Go Family event invites parents and children to team up for a friendly game of soccer, promoting physical activity and family bonding. Over at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre, DadFit SportsFest will feature former AFL and BBL players in a day of games, activities, and fun designed to inspire active lifestyles and strengthen community connections.
Grandparents won’t miss out either, with special intergenerational events on offer. The Intergenerational Walk at Cruickshank Park in Yarraville and the Walk on Country at Pipemakers Park, which includes a guided nature walk and storytelling experience – are both perfect opportunities for generations to come together in nature.
Local Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres will also be joining in the fun with a range of sessions.
The theme for 2025 is "Everyone should know about Children’s Rights" which is a simplified version of Article 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Children’s Week activities are proudly presented by Maribyrnong City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.
