Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone enjoyed a well-deserved break and had the opportunity to relax, recharge and spend time with family and friends.

Term 3 is always a unique time in the school year. It often feels like we have one foot firmly planted in this year and one foot already stepping into the next. While we remain focused on providing the very best learning experiences for our students this year, we also begin the exciting work of planning for 2027—looking at classes, staffing, programs and the many opportunities that lie ahead.

At KPS we are always looking for ways improve what we do and the experiences of our students. Alongside our school Council, I am keen to know what this improvement could look like from a community perspective. I have popped a link to a google form where we would love your feedback into our planning for next year. I have adapted a Stop, Start, Continue protocol that will give you the space to share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

Of course, there is still so much to look forward to this term. Our classrooms will once again be filled with curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm as students continue to learn, grow and challenge themselves.

We are delighted to announce that enrolments for students starting Foundation in 2027 are now open.

If your child is due to begin school in 2027, or if you know a family who is exploring school options, we'd love to welcome them to Kingsville Primary School. We are proud of our inclusive and connected community, where every child is encouraged to grow, achieve and develop a love of learning.

Many of the families who join our school do so because of recommendations from our wonderful community. If you have friends, neighbours or relatives with a child starting school in 2027, we'd be grateful if you could help spread the word.

Huge thank you to our friends at Lucinda Pharmacy for donating a brand-new piano to our school for the kids to use! We are so incredibly grateful and will find the perfect home for it.

Well done to two of our year 6 boys, Ned and Elliott, who represented our school at the State Cross Country Championships. Both boys were phenomenal in their efforts and should be so very proud of themselves – I know that we are all so proud of you!

Elliott improved on his result at State level from last year’s event – finishing third this year. This puts him through to the National Competition in Sydney later this term. Wow!!

One of the things we are most proud of at Kingsville Primary School is our commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. As our school continues to grow, so too does our Inclusion Team.

Leila continues to lead this important work through her role as our Disability Inclusion Leader, alongside her work as our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. Her passion, expertise and advocacy for students ensure that inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do.

Earlier this year, we introduced a new Inclusion Teacher role, with Caitlin stepping into the position. Caitlin has been working closely with teachers to coordinate adjustments for students, support personalised learning, and ensure every child has the tools they need to be successful. The impact of this role has already been significant, strengthening the support we provide across the school.

Thanks to the success of this model, we are excited to welcome another Inclusion Teacher to the team this term. Matthew has recently relocated from Queensland and brings with him extensive experience in inclusion education and designing curriculum pathways that enable all learners to access and engage with their learning. His knowledge and passion for inclusive education make him a fantastic addition to our staff, and we already know he is going to make a meaningful difference to the students and families of KPS.

These 3 wonderful teachers will be working out of the Sensory Space and classrooms but have also taken up residence in ‘The Office Under The Stairs’ (just past the 3 / 4 classrooms) in the main building.

Investing in inclusion means investing in every learner. We are incredibly excited about the expertise, collaboration and care this growing team brings, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to have across our school community.

A huge thank you to all our families who joined us on Thursday for our Student-Led Conferences. It was wonderful to see our classrooms filled with proud students sharing their learning, celebrating their growth and reflecting on their goals.

Student-Led Conferences are a special part of learning at Kingsville Primary School because they place students at the centre of the conversation. From our Foundation students confidently sharing their classroom routines and favourite pieces of work, to our Grade 6 students thoughtfully reflecting on their achievements, challenges and next steps, every child had the opportunity to showcase their learning journey.

One of the things that makes these conferences so powerful is how closely they align with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile. Throughout the afternoon, we saw students demonstrating many of the attributes that we strive to develop every day.

Our students were Communicators as they confidently explained their thinking, shared their learning and answered questions from their families. They showed they were Reflective by talking honestly about what they have achieved, what they have found challenging and the goals they have set for themselves. We saw Knowledgeable learners making connections across different areas of the curriculum and proudly sharing what they have discovered through inquiry. Many students demonstrated they were Risk-Takers, stepping outside their comfort zone to lead conversations independently and present to an audience.

Just as importantly, students showed they were Caring and Open-Minded, welcoming family members into their learning spaces and recognising that everyone learns differently. These conferences are a wonderful reminder that learning is about much more than grades—it is about developing confident, thoughtful and capable young people who understand themselves as learners.

Thank you to our families for taking the time to celebrate this important milestone with your children. Your encouragement and interest in their learning make a significant difference. We are incredibly proud of every student for the confidence, enthusiasm and maturity they displayed throughout the afternoon.

It was a wonderful celebration of learning and a fantastic example of our students living the IB Learner Profile every day.

At Kingsville Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is at the centre of every decision we make—including how we share photos online.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology continues to evolve, schools across Australia are reviewing how student images are used on public platforms. While we love celebrating the incredible learning and achievements happening at KPS, we are also committed to ensuring we do so responsibly and with our students' digital safety in mind. Recent advice has highlighted the importance of protecting children's digital footprints, as publicly shared images can potentially be misused by emerging AI technologies.

To help safeguard our students, we carefully consider the images we share on our Instagram account. This includes being mindful of the types of photos we post, avoiding unnecessary identifying information and always following our Photographing, Filming and Recording Policy and parent consent preferences. All steps have also been taken on our account to ensure all sharing options are disabled.
