The staff of Kingsville Primary School would like to wish all Kingsville students and their families a very happy and safe Christmas and holiday break. To our 480 students who have worked hard and contributed so much during 2023, congratulations, you have applied yourself and now deserve this well-earned break. My usual final statement of a Monday morning has a slight twist … be good to your siblings and look after your mums, dads and carers.
To the wonderful parent and carer helpers, thanks you so much for your contributions to the school and your involvement in the myriad of activities and learning experiences you took a role in with flexibility and passion. Your engagement in the life of a school is greatly appreciated!
I hope you enjoy your holiday time and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2024.

On Monday night we congratulate all our Year 6 graduating students for their valued contribution to the life of Kingsville Primary School. It will be my honour and great pleasure to address and congratulate our eighty year 6 students on this wonderful evening at their graduation ceremony. Eighty wonderful young men and women now only 3 days way from being ready to leave behind primary school and confidently take the next step into secondary school.
Such a ceremony is an important milestone for these students, their families and the history of this great school. Class of 2023, I hope you are all very proud of yourselves individually and as a member of a team you belong to. I know you will present yourselves with confidence and style at this significant ceremony, as you are awarded your certificates and stories are shared about your seven years as a primary school student.
A list of the graduating group of 2023 is shown below, along with information about where this wonderful group of students are heading in 2024.

The first day of school next year is Tuesday 30th January for all year 1 to 6 students. Upon arriving at school, students should use the time until the bell rings at 8.55am, catching up with friends. Parents/Guardians and students are asked not to enter the classrooms. When the bell rings students should make their way directly to their classroom where they will be met by their teacher. Parents are asked to say goodbye outside the classroom, however, please assure your child that you will be back to collect them at the end of the school day.
The first day of school for Foundation students is Wednesday 31st January. The arrival procedure for Foundations students will be communicated to 2024 Foundation families before the end of the 2023 school year, via email from Blagma.
Each year, Victorian government schools allocate four student free days (when student instruction does not occur). These days are used for professional development, school planning and administration, curriculum development and student assessment and reporting.
The first day of Term 1 each year is a student free day in all government schools in Victoria.
The remaining three are set by schools and approved by the School Council.
KPS School Council has approved the Student Free Days for 2024. These will of course be listed in all newsletters next year however, advance notice for all Kingsville families is now provided.

Before I get into this extraordinary journey the girls’ team experienced, I would like to thank all the parents and carers that helped us make it to the State Championships. I would also like to say thanks to all the teachers that supported us, gave up their time to help us practice and motivated us, we could have never made it this far without them.
Having the opportunity to go to the State Championships is one we had never thought we’d get. But since we were presented with it, we took it and gave it our best. We decided to give it our all and simply enjoy the game of cricket. All the matches were very close, our team only losing by a couple of runs, so we knew we did our best job. We were celebrating our victories, feeling proud of our accomplishments, and motivating our teammates on the field. This journey helped us build our confidence, resilience and most importantly, our cricket skills.

As the boys’ cricket team of Kingsville 2023, we would like to thank all the parents and carers that helped us make it to the State Championships. We would also like to say thanks to Glenn and Abbas that supported us, gave up their time to help us practice and motivated us. Our success is a result of their time and efforts. The experience e of playing through all the matches to get to the State finals, was amazing in itself. However, the state games were a real highlight. The experience showed us how difficult and challenging it is to make it to this level. Reflecting on the outcome, we are extremely proud of what we achieved!
At the championships we played four games which were all very competitive and challenged our skills and abilities mentally and physically. All the matches were very competitive, but we realized there were some very good teams we played against. We won one of our four and became the sixth best primary school team at ‘master-blaster cricket. This journey helped us to become better players, teammates and people and we will forever have a special connection with each other. We hope our successes motivate other children to experience what we got to experience.

At Kingsville Primary School, the ‘child’ is at the centre of all that we plan for and undertake. As educators and members of this learning community we are committed to providing the very best educational opportunities for all our students. We look forward now to 2024 and expect it to be a successful year of teaching, learning and growth.
On behalf of the School Council, I would like to advise you of the Parent Payment Request -
Voluntary Financial Contributions for 2024. The contribution towards your child/ren’s Essential Education Items is $360.00 per child. This fee remains the same from 2023.
A Compass post will be sent in February 2024 for families to pay via Compass, or at the school via EFTPOS.
Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students.
Kind Regards,
Glen Yates
School Council President
We are delighted to share Kingsville Primary School’s results from the Breathe Melbourne Citizen Science Project.
This study was possible thanks to classes 6LA and 6EH. These students became air quality scientists for a week, collecting air quality data on their school commutes. Class 6EH also participated in the Idle Off Program, where they learnt how to advocate to reduce the amount of air pollution from car idling around the school.
The next step for the Breathe Melbourne team is to combine the data across all 6 participating schools. This requires more in-depth analyses and interpretation. We will then share the results with you and the wider community next year.
Thank you for making Breathe Melbourne possible.
The results can be viewed here on our website: Breathe Melbourne Kingsville Primary School Results

More details are coming but rest assured, there’ll be great food and excellent music. We’ve already confirmed Glee West, our very own Kingsville Choir and local rock band, 9 Bar None.
Is the weather always on our side? NO! Do we always have fun regardless? YES!
Next year, we’d love to reintroduce some extra stalls or activities for the kids – if you have any ideas or capacity, shout out – send us an email fokps58@gmail.com
Tickets will be on sale early next year, you’ll hear from Class Reps as soon as they are out. Keep an eye on Facebook too.
