Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 3 families!

We have hit the ground running and it has been wonderful to see all the teachers and students get right back into it! I have had the pleasure of attending all team planning sessions this week and can’t wait to see the learning experiences put into practice – I may have even snuck myself in on a CERES excursion!

Student Achievements
Week 1 has seen KPS kids shine in the sporting arena. Our girls Netball team winning through into the next level of the competition earlier this week as well as Hazel, Elli and Elliott representing our school at State level cross country. STATE! To all the competitors – congratulations! Your commitment to your sport is truly inspiring. Our T- Ball team head off to their next level of competition in week 3 after winning our regional event. Good luck!

Staffing Update
We are thrilled to be growing our team here at KPS and this week have welcomed a few brand-new faces. We have Sophie who has joined us teaching 5SP this term and Jaya who is covering Betty’s leave in the office. We can now officially welcome Mich as our Business Manager who was relieving for us while we found a replacement for Erica, but is now going to be with us permanently.

Our Allied Health team is also expanding as we welcome Rachel our Speech Pathologist and James our Psychologist, who are both with us for one day a week for the remainder of the year. They will be supporting teachers in their ability to identify student need and differentiate their practice.

I know that you will all join me in making them feel very welcome to our school.

Parent Opinion Survey
In Term 3 each year parents are invited to complete the Parent Opinion Survey as designed by The Department of Education. The aim of this survey is to collect parent/caregiver/guardian opinion data from individual schools, and to use this information to assist with the future planning and improvement of Victorian schools. For us, it is an important resource that we use to determine school priorities and gauge how we are going against school targets. The survey link will be emailed to all families this year and I strongly encourage you to take the time to fill it in. Your opinion is very important to us as we move forward on our school improvement journey.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend – stay warm!

Emma

Real Schools

Language is an important part of the work we do with people, young, old, everyone and, getting it right is important. The words we choose to use to thank and congratulate our young people when they get it right and, the words we use when they get it wrong go a long way in helping them to understand the impact of their behaviour. When our young people understand the impact of their behaviour they can begin to make different and better choices and understand what to do when they make a mistake. Affective Language is the language we use to help our students and you can use it at home as well.
