Hi families,
What an amazing fortnight we have had! There is certainly a buzz in the air as we launch into book week and then our Arts Spectacular the following week. I am still in the process of finalising my book week costume – oh the decisions!
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work that our FOKPS team have managed to do over the past few weeks. We would not be able to provide all these wonderful extra bits for our kids without your organisation and action. We are all incredibly grateful!
At our Arts Spectacular, the FOKPS are holding a sausage sizzle. Just to estimate numbers, can you please use the below link to let us know if your family will be attending.

Enjoy the weekend everyone (even those of you, who like me, will be bust crafting costumes!)

Hello everybody! You know what time it is? Captains corner!
The focus for this week is the exhibition. If you have no clue what we are talking about, either you do not pay attention to year 6 events, or you do not read the newsletter often. If you are part of that bunch then let me give a quick explanation. The exhibition is a once-a-year event where year 6’s presents their research and present after 3 months of learning and new experiences. They learn collaboration and teamwork and many other skills that will help them into the future. With that out of the way, I can now show off the big boy words I learnt. So far in the exhibition we have reflected on what it means to be a global citizenship student ambassador. We have had a plethora of guest speakers, e.g. Andrew Hansen, come in and help educate us on what the exhibition is about. With that mouthful out of the way, I will now hand over to Louie for him to talk about Book Week
Also, we are excited to tell you that book week is week 6. It is a wonderful place to recommend books to your friends and get into new books and series. It is also an opportunity for parents to show off their creative skills and flex to others. The book fair is still happening (or happened) and remember to try your best to dress up on Thursday. Have fun kids and thanks for reading our captain's corner.

Our rescheduled working bee has been set for Saturday 24th August from 9am - 12 noon. All our working bees are open to the whole school community, Foundation to year 6. We are hoping for a big and varied turnout from our families. This is a great opportunity to help contribute to the ground’s maintenance and development, plus catch up and meet other parents. Working bees are also highly popular with the kids as they help out or spend a bit of free time on the oval or playgrounds.
Tasks include:
Please ensure:
Entry will be through the double gates to the hall on Bishop Street. All parents who are volunteering on the day must report to the check in table that will be situated just outside the door of the 3/4 classrooms. Please read the information set up on the board and sign in on arrival and out on departure.

We were honoured to welcome a delegation of 10 teachers from South Korea to our school last Thursday, sent by their government as part of a larger initiative to explore the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs in Australia. Their visit was part of a nationwide effort to understand what it would mean for the South Korean education system to join the IB organization.
During their time at Kingsville, the educators had the opportunity to observe our Foundation rooms, where they saw play-based inquiry in action—an essential component of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). They were also impressed by our Year 6 students, who were collaboratively working through a challenging STEM activity, showcasing the critical thinking and teamwork that PYP fosters.
As they toured our school, the visitors repeatedly commented on the wonderful atmosphere of enjoyment, calm, respectfulness, and engagement they felt throughout their visit. Accompanying them was our former Assistant Principal, Carolyn Withers who now works as an IB educator, mentoring one of the schools, that toured, on its journey to becoming an IB World School.
We are proud to have shared our PYP practices with our international colleagues and look forward to continuing to contribute to the global conversation on quality education.
